Question: I feel hollow and empty inside. Sometimes, I have to detach myself from everyone. Then, when I am separated from people for too long, I feel empty again. What can Buddhism teach about this?

Answer: Please read the Sutras if you have time. Please find some time to read the Sutras. (Here, we have a collection of nice Sutras.)
What is the reason for this? We read the Sutras to learn about Karma, or cause and effect. All these emotions that we feel, they are also made up of causes, or seeds. Thus, what we feel, the emotions, are the effects of these seeds.
Maybe, these seeds were planted in past lives, maybe in the earlier parts of this life.
So, when we keep on reading the Sutras, we will slowly understand Karma. Believing in Karma, we will slowly understand that our emotions have causes. When we remove these causes, the effects – the strong negative emotions – will also go away naturally.
How do we remove the causes? Through Buddhist practices. We will learn some of these practices from the Sutras also.
